Update

The Orchard Cemetery project has been presented to the city of Pierrefonds. We began the process to modify the zoning regulations to bring the project to life, to preserve the green space and keep the garden centre open.

The next step was to submit a request and pay the non-refundable study fee of $3000 for the project to be evaluated by August 18, 2023, to present the project to the city's elected officials during a caucus meeting on September 11, 2023.

Unfortunately, we didn't make that deadline, however the past weeks, we witnessed incredible enthusiasm and dedication from all of our contributors towards our mission to preserve the garden centre and maintain the beauty of the adjoining fields.

These contributions demonstrate the belief in the project's vision and have also spurred significant interest from various news channels, amplifying our cause.

As we embarked on this journey, we set an ambitious deadline for rezoning the land with the city, a step we believed would be pivotal in bringing our project to life. However, as we delved deeper into the intricacies of the project, we realized that the challenges and moving parts are more intricate than initially anticipated. Despite our best efforts and the momentum generated, we were not be able to meet our first deadline for the rezoning submission.

While this news may come as a disappointment, we want to assure you that your contributions have not been in vain. Along the way, we have taken significant strides forward. Our project team has expanded, bringing on board professionals such as an accountant and a project finance lawyer to fortify the foundation of the project and ensure its resilience against various scenarios.

Regarding the funds that you generously contributed; we want to assure you that your support will continue to be directed towards the Orchard Cemetery project. While we are currently refining our approach and adjusting our timeline, your contributions will remain an integral part of the project's development. Rest assured, every dollar you contributed will be utilized thoughtfully to further the goals and vision of the project.
